How do I calculate a weighted grade?

Multiply each category's average by its weight, add those products together, and divide by the total weight. For example, Homework (20% weight, 95% average) and Tests (80% weight, 85% average) give (0.20 x 95 + 0.80 x 85) = 87% overall.

What if my category weights do not add up to 100%?

This calculator normalizes by the total weight you enter, so it still gives an accurate overall grade for the categories you have so far, which is useful mid-semester before every category is complete.
