How to Connect Canvas to a Study Planner and Auto-Prioritize Your Assignments

If you're a student using Canvas, you already know the problem: your assignments are scattered across dozens of course pages, sorted in ways that make sense to your professors but not to you. You have to click into every class, mentally tally what's due when, and then somehow turn that into a plan — all before you've done a single minute of actual work.

There's a better way. IntelliPlan connects directly to Canvas and does all that sorting for you automatically.

Why manual Canvas tracking doesn't work

Canvas shows you assignments by class. It doesn't tell you which assignment across all your classes is most urgent right now. It doesn't estimate how long each one will take. And it definitely doesn't build you a schedule. You're left doing all of that mental work yourself — which is exhausting and easy to get wrong.

Most students end up with a mental list they can't quite trust, a due date they forgot about, or a Sunday night surprise. IntelliPlan fixes this by pulling every assignment from every class and ranking them by urgency, point value, and how much time you have left.

How to connect IntelliPlan to Canvas

  1. Go to intelliplan.tech and create a free account.
  2. During setup, choose Canvas LMS as your integration.
  3. Enter your school's Canvas URL (e.g., yourschool.instructure.com) and your Canvas access token.
  4. IntelliPlan will import all your current assignments automatically.
  5. You'll see a prioritized list — High, Medium, Low — across every class at once.

The whole process takes about 3 minutes. No manual data entry. No copy-pasting. When your professor updates a due date in Canvas, IntelliPlan picks it up on the next sync.

What you see after connecting

After connecting Canvas, IntelliPlan shows you a single ranked list of every assignment from every class. Each item has a priority label (High / Medium / Low), a time estimate, and the due date. You can also generate a full week's study schedule and export it directly to Google Calendar with one click.

The Grade Modeler lets you simulate what score you need on your next assignment to maintain your target grade — so you can decide where to spend your energy before you start.

Works alongside Canvas, not instead of it

IntelliPlan doesn't replace Canvas. You still submit work through Canvas like normal. IntelliPlan just reads what's there and turns it into something actionable. Think of it as the layer between "here are all your assignments" and "here's exactly what you should do next."
